Congratulations

AALIYAH

At Friday's assembly Aaliyah was awarded a Principal's certificate for achievement in maths.

This week we completed the 'Halcombe School Basic Facts Test', with some students making significant improvement.

Students complete four tests, one for each domain (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Each test is made up of 63 questions which they have four minutes to answer. Halcombe School's expectation is that by the end of year 6 students will gain 95% or above in each test.

Aaliyah is a year 4 student who achieved 100% in all four tests. Congratulations Aaliyah, your hard work has paid off.

Multiples of 3

While some of us have been learning our 3 x tables others have been learning about multiples of three.

Listen to Cara and Olivia explain how they know whether a number is a multiple of three.

Absolutely Amazing Art

Jane Lloyd Art Workshop

On Tuesday June 15th we all attended an art workshop run by Jane Lloyd. She taught us how to create cartoon faces.

We all enjoyed it and we were amazed at our artistic abilities. With Jane Lloyd, we were all artists. Thanks Jane.

3 x tables

WAL our 3 x tables.

Listen to us skip counting in 3s and watch the pattern we make.

Skip counting in 3s gives us the answers to our 3 x tables.

We can sing our 3 x tables.

We can also use the knowledge that we already have. We know our 2 x tables, so we can use that knowledge to answer our 3 x tables.

Practise your 3 x tables here:

Car Care Stories

WALT read and write in sentences. We wrote our own stories using pictures from Joy Cowley's story 'Car Care'. We published our stories in a programme called 'PhotoStory 3.'

Listen to Stefan read his story.

Listen to Riki and Trevor read their story.

Listen to Arizona read her story.

Listen to Tyron read his story.

Metaphor Poems

WAL about language features. A metaphor is a language feature and you can use one to make your writing more interesting. Metaphors compare things, by saying one thing is the other.

Read these two great metaphor poems.

Cara's poem.

Jayden's poem.

Welcome to Room 4's Blog
